Academic Facilities

Library
The university’s library is located in a low-traffic area. It is a designated quiet place for students to study and do academic research without distractions. The library is equipped with internet facilities and modern computers to give university students better access to medical information.

Wireless Internet access is available in most of the classrooms near the library for students with a laptop. It is open from 6 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. every day with a night transport service.

Clinical Training and Laboratories
Spartan Health Sciences University boasts of its state-of-the-art Skills laboratory and Human Simulation Laboratory. These labs are a great place for the students to experience realistic patient scenarios while learning to respond to them in a supportive and safe environment. The simulation lab uses high-fidelity mannequins that exhibit human physiological functions such as reactive pupils, blood pressure, heart/lung sounds, and working tear ducts. Students also learn to perform basic procedures, including starting an IV, inserting a bladder catheter, obtaining a blood sample, giving medications, performing surgical procedures, and treating wounds in response to particular cases. The clinical training focuses on developing communication, clinical reasons, interprofessional relationships, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Classrooms
All the classrooms have an audio-visual aid and a stable internet connection for an unstoppable learning experience. Spartan Health Sciences University is equipped with ancillary electrical generation equipment and 46500-gallon water storage to ensure infrequent power and water outages do not interrupt the instructions or lectures. The university also boasts a modern anatomy and histology laboratory, including an isolated dissection room.

Transportation
The university campus is located in a residential area. The facilities have continuously evolved into a modern multi-million dollar complex.

The university has two operational buses providing transportation to students, faculty, and staff free of charge.

The first bus is the official university transportation service that picks up students from their apartments and drops them at the university. The bus also drops them back at their apartments by the end of the day.

The second bus is privately owned that provides night transportation to the students from apartments to the school’s library and vice versa. It operates Monday to Sunday, and there are two departure times from the library (9:45 pm and 11:45 pm).

The university hostels and accommodations come under the housing committee chaired by the Assistant Dean of the Admissions department. The committee ensures suitable accommodation for all the students upon their arrival on the Island. Before assigning the apartment, the committee performs a house inspection to check the safety standards and requirements.

The accommodations are fully furnished with wireless internet, hot/cold water, cable TV, air-conditioning, and a fan. The accommodations focus on providing a safe distraction-free space for students, allowing them to focus on their education.

The School of Medicine of Spartan Health Sciences University offers an MD program as a ten-trimester course. The MD program is equivalent to the MBBS program in India. The first five trimesters are held at the Saint Lucia campus. The rest trimesters consist of 80 weeks of clinical practice and studies held at university-approved teaching hospitals.
